The Pirate Princess

Blue bar with shadow

The Beth-El Players announced the beginning of their fifth season with their newest summer musical, The Pirate Princess.

This script, written by Carla Silen and Linda Kaufman, is a delightful adaptation of a Jewish fairy tale, also entitled The Pirate Princess. It is found in Elijah’s Vision, a collection of Jewish folk stories by Howard Schwartz.

As we read in the original story, "Once upon a time, there were two kings and two queens, both of whom were childless. And they set out on a journey to discover a remedy that would make it possible for a chid to be born to each of them..." The Pirate Princess tells of the birth of a boy to one couple and a girl to the other, a wizard’s prophecy that they were meant to fall in love and marry, and the amazing adventures they undertake before they become husband and wife.

Production dates were July 22, 23 29 & 30 and August 5 & 6, 2000.
