Important Progress Reports Information For All Teachers

Report card.gif (53149 bytes)

Progress Reports will be coming to you this Sunday, November 24.  Please have them completed by the following Sunday, December 8.  The goal of the Progress Report is not only to inform the parents of their child’s behavior in class, but also to inform the parents of what is being taught in class and what their child’s specific Judaic interests happen to be.  Please be honest, constructive and informative.  For suggestions on how to phrase your comments please, call me, email me or visit this website.   http://www.teachnet.com/how-to/endofyear/personalcomments061400.html

Dress Code Confusion

The question on the table at the ma’aseh meeting this past Sunday should have been, should there be a ma’aseh dress code.  The answer is yes, there should be, but it should not be the NEISD dress code.  The ma’aseh dress code is the same as the teacher dress code. “It is important that your dress and appearance reflect positively on the Temple.  All staff members should dress professionally and comfortably.  Casual, professional business attire is permitted.”  In simple terms this means, hide the bellybutton, fix the rips, and keep the racy t-shirt slogans at home.  I apologize for the confusion.

Va’ad HaBeyt Sefer

You should give you class representative an opportunity to share what the student council is working on.  The holiday committee is outlining activities for holidays.  The spirit committee has decided to have a spirit t-shirt.  They have come up with a contest to have any student who would like to design a t-shirt.  The group will then vote on the shirt they like the best.  That design will be put on the t-shirts and sold to all interested students and faculty.  They will begin working on how we should sell the t-shirts.

How Does Family Education Work

One Sunday a year, your grade will be having a Family Education Program.  Therefore, from 9:00am to 11:00am, parents and students will be in the Fiesta room with their teachers and ma’aseh.  At approximately 11:10, you will have a hafsaka with no snack, so that your students can let loose and relax before you go back into your class. You will then proceed to have class until 12:15 p.m.  I encourage having programming with the parents in your classroom, but it is not mandatory, “this year.”

Tzedakah . . . Why Wait?

[jnf box]

Why wait until the end of the year to donate your tzedakah.  Pick a place now and we can donate it right away.  You will then probably receive a thank you letter from the organization and you can study that organization more in depth as part of your lessons.  Have your class vote on your tzedakah recipients: you should choose one Jewish organization and one “general” organization as your tzedakah recipients.  Find the cause and we’ll find the organization.  Come into class with a few suggestions.  I have letters from organizations that I keep on file and there is also a site called www.tzedaka.org.

Paychecks

We do apologize with the confusion over the paychecks.  If you were not paid in September due to your lack of W-4 and I-9 forms, please inform Martha this Sunday.  We will include that pay in your November paycheck.  If you were overpaid or until paid, please again inform Martha on Sunday or email her at martha@beth-elsa.org.  Thank you for your understanding.
