Kedushah Kingdom

A Classroom Brit of Ethics

We are in a Kedushah Kingdom, a sacred Jewish environment. While we are in our Kedusha Kingdom, we will act with B’tzelem Elohim, with Kavod, Derech Eretz, and Hish-tat-foot. This Brit, contract, signifies our willingness to conduct ourselves accordingly in class.

  1. We are all B’tzelem Elohim, created in God’s image. Because we are all B’tzelem Elohim, we will act and behave well with each other. We will behave just as we believe God behaves with us.
  2. We will behave with Kavod, respect for ourselves and each other. We will listen to others and respect their opinions even if we don’t agree. Out of our Kavod for each other, whatever we say stays with us. Kavod is a two-way relationship. Kavod is given when we earn it.
  3. We will act towards each other with Derech Eretz, manners. All of us deserve to be treated properly. We will speak to each other politely; we will not touch or hurt each other; and we will treat each other with care and concern.
  4. Hish-tat-foot, participation, is part of our Brit. A partnership between students, teachers and parents exists within our classroom. Everyone is encouraged to participate and share. No one has the right to interfere with the teaching and learning that goes on in our Kedushah Kingdom. The teacher will be prepared and will act fairly in all situations.

Should a problem occur in our Kedushah Kingdom, there will be one warning given. If the problem occurs again, the teacher will speak with the parents and the student involved. If the problem persists, a conference between parent, teacher, student and Education Director will take place. If, after all this, a willingness to abide by the classroom Brit has not been achieved, the Religious School Committee will be consulted and the student will not be readmitted to the class.

We understand the concepts of Kedushah Kingdom, Brit, B’tzelem Elohim, Derech Eretz and Hish-tat-foot. We will abide by our classroom Brit.
