Pride at Temple Beth-El

Pride at TBEThrive Donation Drive

In honor of Pride Shabbat and NEFESH, we will be having a donation drive for Thrive Youth Center throughout the month of June. One of the only LGBTQIA+ shelters in the South, Thrive offers a supportive and safe space for LGBTQIA+ homeless youth so they can become successful, educated, and productive members of society.

Out of the thousands of homeless youth in San Antonio, around 50% identify as LGBTQIA+. Thrive helps by upholding a positive environment, where residents are provided safe and secure housing, counseling, life skills classes, and other resources to help pursue their goals.

To find out what Thrive is currently in need of, follow this link.

Additionally, Thrive is always in need of the following items:

• Deodorant (Men's and Women's, full size)
• Shaving cream (full or travel size)
• Full sized toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion)
• Travel sized toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash; no bar soap)
• Q-Tips and cotton balls
• Dryer sheets
• Snack-size Ziploc bags
• Cleaning supplies: Air fresheners (Renuzit, Glade or Lysol sprays, etc.), Swiffer Sweeper wet mopping pad refills

There will be a donation bin located in the Temple Lobby for all donations to Thrive Youth Center. For more information on Thrive, visit our Temple website, under the NEFESH page.

June NEFESH Pride Activities

In honor of Pride Month, the NEFESH theme for June is LGBTQIA+ equality. Come celebrate Pride Month by volunteering and marching in the San Antonio Parade!

The Pride Parade and Festival will be on Saturday, June 29th at Crockett Park (1300 N. Main Ave) and the march begins at the intersection of Dewey Place & N. Main. We will be volunteering from 4:00 pm. The parade begins at 9:00 PM, but we will need to get in marching formation by 7:00 pm and will have a Temple banner. The parade lasts till around 11:00 PM, where there will be a fireworks show to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall, an uprising known as the birth of the modern LGBT movement. Everyone in the community is invited to volunteer and march with us – the more the merrier!

In between volunteer & march time, at 6:15 pm, we will have dinner together at Luther's Restaurant! RSVP to Ross Halfant at [email protected] if you can join us!

Please fill out the form to RSVP for these NEFESH events.

Additional information will be provided after you RSVP, but if you have any questions, contact Ross Halfant at [email protected]
