In this Pulitzer Prize-winning, #1 New York Times bestselling book, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings.

Read the book before our discussion.

The discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Carey Latimore. Carey H. Latimore is Associate Professor of History at Trinity University where he is the co-director of the African American Studies program and the past Chair of the History Department. He holds a M.A. and PhD in United States History from Emory University and a B.A. from the University of Richmond. A specialist on African American and Southern History, Dr. Latimore is particularly interested in the construction of African American communities in the Reconstruction and post Reconstruction South.
