In early 1970s Harlem, daughter, and wife-to-be Tish vividly recalls the passion, respect and trust that have connected her and her artist fiancé Alonzo Hunt, who goes by the nickname Fonny. Friends since childhood, the devoted couple dream of a future together, but their plans are derailed when Fonny is arrested for a crime he did not commit.

The discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Timothy Parrish. Timothy Parrish is a writer and a critic who began his pursuit of higher education as an English and History major at Trinity University. Since then, he has taught at a number of universities, including Florida State, Virginia Tech, and the University of California at Davis. He currently teaches at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He is the author or editor of five books, including Ralph Ellison and the Genius of America, and The Cambridge Companion to Philip Roth.
