On Saturday, August 1, join us on Facebook for Havdalah, followed by an inspiring concert with Erin McAdams, soprano, and Mark Alexander on the piano.

Erin McAdams has appeared as both a featured soloist and ensemble member with organizations including San Diego Opera, Lyric Theatre of San Jose, the Opera Academy of California, the Alamo Baroque Festival, Symphony Viva, and Sonido Barroco of San Antonio. Before moving to San Antonio in 2015, Erin completed two tours of duty as an officer in the U.S. Navy, stationed on ships in Yokosuka, Japan and San Diego, California. Following her service in the Navy, she lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay area, where she frequently performed as a singer and worked as an accompanist at Chabot College, Diablo Valley College, and Mission Dolores Basilica. An active board member for the Alamo Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, Erin currently serves as both the accompanist at Temple Beth-El and the organist/choir master at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in San Antonio. Erin holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame, San Diego State University, and the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she was the recipient of the Bess Hieronymous organ scholarship during her tutelage under Robert Brewer.

Pianist Mark Alexander’s performances have been called “technically brilliant” and “full of expressive beauty”. He has won numerous competitions and has performed in recital and with orchestras throughout the United States, Mexico and Austria. Mark has performed in New York City’s iconic Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center; the Brahms museum in Mürzzuschlag, Austria; and was also heard on NPR’s Performance Today with baritone Timothy Jones on a historic broadcast from the Alamo. He is a also regular performer on “John Kolody’s Komödie-Abend”. Mark is on the faculty of American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria and teaches at San Antonio College and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX. He holds a M.M and D.M.A from the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.M. from the University of Michigan. Mark is a native of Caledonia, Michigan and resides in San Antonio.
