Kever Avot (lit. the grave of the fathers’) is the custom of visiting graves of loved ones between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur. A communal service is held in which prayers of remembrance are recited, linking the living to the preceding generations. By contemplating the virtures of the deceased and their devotion to the Jewish faith and people, we find strength and inspiration.
