Youth & Families
We strive to create a safe space for students to explore their judaism with their friends, adult mentors, and families. Our diverse programming calendar allows our youngest members to discover new and fun ways to connect to Judaism and feel good about our faith, culture, and heritage.
“Let your heart lead you to enjoyment in the days of your youth.” - Ecclesiastes 11:9
At Temple Beth-El we believe that the best way for our children to feel part of a community is to be part of a community. Our youth events are open to everyone from Kindergaten through Grade 12. From trips to mini golf, bowling, and pottery painting to chocolate seders and visits from magicians our youth events provide a place to have fun experiences with Jewish friends.
The San Antonio Federation of Temple Youth (SAFTY) is Temple Beth-El’s high school youth group. SAFTY teens participate in service projects, educational programs, and social events that help them establish Jewish connections. SAFTY is a founding member of NFTY-TOR (Texas Oklahoma Region) and our teens participate in national and international URJ teen programs.
Ages 5 and Under
The story of Honi the Circle Maker and the carob tree teaches the importance of planting seeds for the future and it is that value that guides the young family offerings at TBE. We offer bi-monthly Saturday morning Tot Shabbat experiences with music, snacks, and a fun craft and bi-monthly activties such as trips to the Zoo, a Hanukkah pajama party, and s’mores in the sukkah! Young families are sure to find a warm and welcoming home at TBE.
Founded in 1976, the URJ Greene Family Camp offers an unforgettable Jewish summer camp experience in the heart of Texas. GFC is located in Bruceville, TX and serves Reform congregations in Texas and Oklahoma. Students spend up to four weeks sleeping in cabins with their friends, taking on new challenges in daily activities, and immersing themselves in Judaism and a 24/7 Jewish community.
