Rev Up: How Terry's Jeep Donation Drives Our Mission Forward

"Last year, while parked on the banks of the Pecos River north of Santa Fe, my trusty 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee sprung a leak. The dashboard stated Emergency! Get to a dealership immediately. Air Suspension System leaking! I was 700 miles from home so I did what anybody would. I pushed down on the hood, the car bounced up and down, and the suspension system was working. So, I drove it home.
The Dealer’s estimate for repair was over $7,000 with no guarantee the repair would fix all the problems. The estimate was almost twice the blue book value of the car in good condition. The car which had carried Shelley and our camping gear to so many cool places over the years, was toast.
I had used a vehicle donation program before. A representative of the auction comes out to tow the car away (at no charge). They handle the change of Title paperwork, sell the car at auction, send the cash to your designated charity and an IRS approved receipt to you for your charitable donation. Takes probably no more than 10 minutes on the phone or on-line.
My car died before its’ time, but it did die. It is now properly disposed of; I have a new car in my driveway, took a tax deduction, and Temple has some cash it didn’t expect. A Win-Win-Win. Add a fourth Win if you want to consider the ease of the process to me.
If you haven’t considered vehicle donation as a means of converting a vehicle you no longer need or want into an asset, perhaps you should. It truly
is really simple to do. And Temple would put the cash to good use."
